Raised in Fort Lee, Peter J. Suh attended Fort Lee Elementary School Number 4, Lewis F. Cole Middle School and Fort Lee High School. He was active in marching band, chorus and theatre, and played football for the Junior Bridgemen. Suh now gets the honor of coaching his son in both football and baseball in the same leagues he grew up in, as well as his daughter in basketball and softball.
Local Government Involvement
Suh began his service career in Fort Lee as a member of the Board of Education where he served for six years, holding positions as vice president, and finance, technology and policy chairman. He is the first Korean-American to be elected as council member in the Borough of Fort Lee. Following in the footsteps of his family, Suh’s father spent over ten years as a member of the town’s Planning Board.
His goal for Fort Lee is to be progressive with steady growth and keep taxes down and controlled. He’d like to keep providing the great services we currently offer in the Borough while striving to streamline and improve them. Even as the town grows exponentially, he feels it’s important to keep the “small town” atmosphere especially with our sports leagues and our community policing and believes it’s of great importance for the Borough to work closely with the Board of Education as the schools are a pivotal aspect of the community and plays a big part in local taxes. Suh is proud of his accomplishments as pertains to implementing events such as Fort Lee Night Out, an offshoot of the Emergency Services National Night Out program.
Community Involvement
A passionate supporter of the arts and sports programs in town, Suh is extremely pleased with the amazing progress of the Middle School sports field and the concentrated efforts the town made to improve it. He is also especially excited for the 5th and 6th grade expansion to Lewis F. Cole Middle School - a project he’s worked tirelessly on since it started when he served on the Board of Education - which is believes will be as beautiful on the inside as it will be on the outside. He played an integral part as the Technology Chairman on the Board of Education’s team that has made it possible for every student in the Middle School to have a laptop.
Education
Suh holds Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting/Finance from New York University as well as a Masters of Science Degree in Accounting from the University of Phoenix. When he’s not putting in countless hours as one of our Borough’s Councilmen, he works in the accounting and finance industry.
Personal Life
Suh is a resident of Fort Lee, with his son and daughter, who attend the same School District he grew up in.
