Board of Health

Overview

The Fort Lee Board of Health is a legally constituted, autonomous body appointed by the Mayor to make health policy for the Borough. The Board is empowered by State statute to enact local ordinances to protect the public health and to provide programs in five major areas, including: 

  • Administration
  • Chronic Illness Detection and Control
  • Communicable Disease Control
  • Environmental Health
  • Maternal and Child Health

It is also responsible to appoint its own personnel to the Department of Health.

Meetings

The Board of Health meets on a Tuesday every month (except for July and August) at the Department of Health (309 Main Street, behind Borough Hall) at 7pm (Caucus Time: 6:45pm).
